One of the lovely sights which most people miss when they visit Palakkad and Malampuzha is the Malampuzha Rock Garden, which is only 800 meters from the Dam. Very few people, who happen to go there, are actually awed by the impressive collection of artwork created out of waste materials.
Malampuzha Rock Garden was designed and created by Nek Chand Saini, who is designed and built the first Rock Garden at Chandigarh. The artifacts here are created using waste materials including stones, granite, power insulators, melamine dishware etc. The Rock Garden was inaugurated on 7th January, 1996 and has been renovated a few years back.
The garden has retained the original theme at the famous Rock Garden at Chandigarh. However, unlike Chandigarh, the rock garden at Malampuzha has little recognition in the tourism circles, despite its superb collection of artwork and beautiful location.
